Classroom Policies
Attendance - Studies show that students who attend school on a daily basis have the best chance of success, regardless of their field of study. Consequently, Glass City Academy holds every student accountable for their daily attendance. We address tardiness, unexcused absences, and excessive absenteeism by meeting with students and providing liaison reporting services for the Juvenile Probation Department. Attendance Contacts are required of students with excessive absenteeism. Tardiness is closely monitored and habitual patterns of tardiness will result in disciplinary action. Title: Truancy and Student Attendance – In compliance with O.R.C. 3321.191It is the legal responsibility of Glass City Academy, through the Attendance Department, to enforce the Ohio State Compulsory Attendance laws. Attendance records for each child, including exact dates of absence / truancy, must be kept for all students.
Glass City Academy will perform all legal reporting reqirements mandated by O.R.C.3321.191.
General Classroom Rules Students are expected to follow policies identified in Glass City Academy Student Handbook. Of specific importance is the protection of students and progress of education. - Students will show RESPECT for ALL teachers and students in the classroom and building.
- Students will come to class open minded and ready to learn.
- Students will NOT try to interfere with the leaning of other students or thety will be removed from class and loose credit.
- ALL electronic devices in the students possession must be turned off and put away. If these devices interfere with the educational process, they will be confiscated and disciplinary action will follow.
Curriculum
Civics: In this course, students will study what it means to be a citizen including active, educated participation in government and government policy/decision making. Students study the Constitution, Bill of Rights, branches of government and other information to gain a better understanding of how our governmental system works and ways to exercise their rights and responsibilities as an effective citizen. Psychology: In this couse, students will examine the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Students will study the life span ranging from infant/childhood development, adolescents, adulthood to death and dying; learning, thinking, memory and language processes; workings of the mind and body; adjustment and breakdown.
