New and Returning Students!
THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS:
ORIENTATION: FRIDAY AUGUST 20, 2010
Please report to Glass City Academy at: 10:00 a.m.
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
We are looking forward to the beginning of a new year! During this orientation, you will be updated on the changes mandated by the State of Ohio that will affect your schedule and the local District changes regarding your transportation to and from school. Schedules will be available and each of you will be updated on the new policies and procedures for the 2010-2011 school year. Following orientation, you will be released and start your regularly scheduled classes on Monday August 23, 2010. We strongly encourage all parents to attend this orientation!
THE STATE REQUIRES THAT YOU ATTEND SCHOOL ON THE FIRST DAY OR BE WITHDRAWN FOR NON-ATTENDANCE. IF YOU MISS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, YOU WILL BE WITHDRAWN AND SUBJECT TO A WAITING (LOTTERY) LIST. PLEASE CONTACT THE MAIN OFFICE BY PHONE, FOLLOWED BY A WRITTEN EXCUSE IF YOU WISH TO STAY ENROLLED.

Students: If you were employed or working on your community service over the summer months, please bring your pay stubs/documentation to the main office.
Parents and Guardians: In accordance with Ohio law, Glass City Academy has a School safety plan for the building. This plan is available for your review in the District Office at: 1000 Monroe Street, Toledo, Ohio 43604. If the plan should need to be put into effect; it will be announced over the same radio and TV stations that normally broadcast school closings. Please do not come to the school to pick up your child, and please do not call the school. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dave Schaetzke.
In accordance with Ohio law, Glass City Academy is offering the Credit Flexibility Plan that allows students to earn units of high school credit and course credit based on an individually approved Credit Flexibility Plan and demonstration of subject area competency. Please contact Vicki Van Deilen with any questions regarding this opportunity.
